Pantai Cenang Attractions
One can never get bored or sick of Pantai Cenang. Apart from the fact
that it is known to be the most popular destinations for holiday goers, its sand is as white as people say
and its sea is as clear as people have noted.
A majority of tourist flock to this beach for its white sands and blue
seas. The view of the ocean is spectacular as you bask in the sun looking over the horizon. An afternoon well
spent for some consists of just taking in the sand and sea all day long, and ending the day with a nice meal
down the road and a laid back drink up at an open air bar.
If you’re feeling more adventurous, there’s always Rebak Island to
explore. It’s small and accessible from Pantai Cenang by foot but only during low-tide. A trip to Rebak
Island has to be quick because a low tide rises after 2 hours. The other way to explore the Rebak Island is
if you charter a boat to take you around.
For a more cultural experience, visit the Laman Padi, or ‘Rice Garden’.
It is here that you can learn all about the cultivation of rice. On location are a small museum and a little
paddy field where you can learn more about rice and its role in South East Asia. There is a restaurant there
serving rice dishes much to anyone’s delight.
The Underwater World is a big favourite amongst children. Of course it
is still as fascinating to adults for its 1000 species of marine life. Here you can see various fish on
display, part of which are leopard sharks, trigger fish, sting rays, clown fish and moray eels. Besides the
aquatic animals, the Underwater World also has a dry area where birds and mammals are displayed in open-air
enclosures; among which are macaws, otters, snakes and marmosets. The Underwater World is a definite
must-visit for visitors to Langkawi!
After a satisfying trip to Underwater world, pop over next door to the
Zon Duty Free Shopping Mall where you can purchase alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, imported chocolates,
imported sweets and other goodies for a cheap price!
